"Confidence, often at a time when it's needed most."
Medical micro-pigmentation is a term, we believe, coined in the USA. In the UK and, in particular in surgical circles, it is known as medical tattoo.
Specialized pigmentation and shading techniques are employed to reproduce the nipple and areola following breast surgery. This may be breast cancer surgery, such as a mastectomy or a wide local excision involving the central portion of the breast and loss of the nipple and areola, or a cosmetic procedure such as a breast reduction or lift that has resulted in alteration of the nipple/areola.
Surgery involving the coloured (vermillion) border of the lips can leave quite noticeable asymmetry and scarring. Such procedures may be necessary for cleft lip surgery or removal of a skin cancer. Careful application of semi-permanent make up can help restore the lost natural outlines of the affected area.
Eyebrows lost through over-plucking, alopecia or following medical treatment, such as chemotherapy, can also be reconstructed.
